Game Development Timeline
Here is a timeline of projects I have worked on that highlights my growth as a designer. Click on them to learn more about the individual projects and see how my design style has developed.

Sapling: A Tree's Tale
Game Maker Studio 2 - January 2023
Sapling: A Tree's Tale is a solo project created for the Global Game Jam 2023 (My first game jam!) and it was featured on the Tranzfuser show reel.
Sapling is an idol RPG anti-game where the player takes on the role of a tree growing in the Oxfordshire countryside.
Haunt My House is a 6-person VR game built in Unity. Where the 6 players use a dingle headset and pair of controllers.
It is a dynamic and immersive team-building experience, seamlessly blending virtual and physical elements to create an engaging challenge that rewards effective cooperation and problem-solving.

Temporal Tenacity is a tactical squad shooter with a time travel element. I had a leading design role in the project and designed created and dressed the levels in this game. As well as this I working on and implementing the audio and music for this project while directing artists working in collaboration.
Drone Defence
Unity3D - May 2023
Drone Defence was a university group project created for a European Think Tank. It involved drone warfare simulations in real-world settings and testing the effectiveness of new anti-drone technologies.
In this project, I worked closely on drone movement and boid algorithms as well as a plethora of other systems and took on a leading client-facing role. Email me at white-hot_games@hotmail.com if you would like to know more.

Workplace Dissonance is a suite of 5 mini-games that form part of an experiment created to test player reactions to different ludonarrative conditions observed in popular games.
This is a solo project that was created as part of my thesis and had to fit a very unique criteria which proved challenging but rewarding.

Originally created for the Epic Mega Jam, Too Close To The Sun is a recursive survival horror game still in production. It was designed and created in collaboration with Tadg Enright.
I work on level design and audio/music as well of a range of other aspects, including high conecpt mechanical design and the narrative.
Originally created for the TriJam, Same Same But Different was created in 3 hours. It is an experimental platformer based around the theme of "dual realities".
Assume command over two characters simultaneously when playing solo, or collaborate with a friend to each control one character using a shared keyboard.
It has now had over 3000 players.

Created for the Ryan Laley Games Fall Jam2023, Death In The Shadows was created in collaboration with Tadg Enright.
The theme was "you are the monster", to that end we created a speed game where as a highly mobile alien creature you stalk through the woods hunting victims and avoiding detection.
That Ship Has Sailed is the spiritual successor to my previous game Sapling. It again embodies anti/idol-game philosophies. You must take control of a ship and must build a crew and trade to survive as long as possible while competing with the elements and a dynamic economy.

Project CHANGE was my first professional role. I worked with a team of researchers who wanted me to develop and design a game to the level of a concept-proving prototype aimed at teaching and demonstrating sustainability within the home.
I pitched a concept during my interview and designed and built it in four months in close collaboration with the other researchers. We all specialised in different fields, I was the only game/coding specialist on the team.
This was an exciting and rewarding project that allowed me a lot of freedom and that achieved its project goals efficiently and was well received.
