Project Scope:

  • Develop a squad-based tactical shooter game for PC.

  • Create a vertical slice comprising three levels.

  • Incorporate puzzle-like levels split across two time zones.

  • Collaborate with a team of 9 members.

  • Utilise Unreal Engine 5.1 for development.

  • Focus on environmental storytelling through level design and dressing.

  • Establish a tutorial system to guide players through mechanics.

  • Ensure cohesive visual and audio elements to enhance gameplay.

Design Goals:

  • Create engaging and challenging puzzle-like levels.

  • Develop a cohesive world that conveys a larger narrative.

  • Implement intuitive UI features for player interaction.

  • Integrate dynamic audio elements to enhance immersion.

  • Design and implement an effective tutorial system.

  • Utilise level dressing to depict past and future versions of environments.

  • Ensure scalability and potential for future expansion.

  • Foster teamwork and collaboration among team members.

 

Steps Taken to Achieve This:

  • Collaborated on refining the game concept and technical details.

  • Designed and implemented seven levels focusing on mechanics mastery.

  • Worked on back-end UI features, particularly blueprints for collectables.

  • Organised and optimised team efforts during the beta phase.

  • Recorded diverse audio samples and music pieces for the game.

  • Designed and implemented the tutorial system using triggers and UI.

  • Handled back-end systems for objectives and integrated cover objects.

  • Meticulously dressed levels to depict past and future versions and allow players to use their imagination to fill in the gaps between the 2 time zones.

  • Actively participated in testing, bug identification, and refinement.

  • Took on leadership responsibilities including presentations and documentation.

 

 

 

Evolution of the Project:

  • Initiation phase: Collaborative refinement of game concept and technical details.

  • Development phase: Focus on level design, UI features, and audio implementation.

  • Beta phase: Organisation and optimisation of team efforts, bug identification, and testing.

  • Refinement phase: Iterative refinement based on feedback, including elimination of free camera.

  • Leadership: Taking on leadership responsibilities, leading presentations, and generating documentation.

  • Conclusion: Successful creation of an impressive vertical slice setting the stage for future scalability and success.

Temporal Tenacity or TT is a squad-based tactical shooter created as a three-level vertical slice for the PC. It was created in a team of 9. TT features puzzle-like levels that are split across 2 time zones each representing the location in a different state.

Nine-person group.

 played a pivotal role in its development. Together with Tadg Enright, I collaborated on refining the game concept, and technical details including the decision to use Unreal Engine 5.1 for development.
